Leading With Passion

Leading in today's world is a challenge for even the most experienced leader. What is leading with passion? Why does it make a difference? Leading with passion is an energy that is contagious for those around you. Passion is the motivator that keeps you engaged in what you are doing and drives you to achieve the impossible. Leading with passion keeps others motivated and builds trust. Employees that know they can trust their leader and are motivated by the passion of the leader are able to create business opportunities that are unimaginable.

So, why do leaders lose their passion? Most leaders lose their passion because they become distant from their initial idea or vision. They try to do and be all things to all people. I coached a well respected non-profit leader who had lost her passion. She spent most of her time pouring through paper work, studying financials and solving problems. She was not in the community talking with the people who mattered to her. As we talked about her motivators, tears streamed down her face. She realized that she needed to get back in touch with the community that she was serving. Her passion was people and helping people. Checking in with her several months later, I found a leader whose face had changed. She was smiling! She was spending time doing the things that fed her passion. Have you lost your passion? What motivates you? Take time to reflect on the true joy and you will be able to regain the passion and become the leader you once were and can be again. Take Flight!
